Calgary police arrested Freeman-on-the-Land Mario Antonacci, also known as Andreas Pirelli, overnight in Calgary.
Antonacci was arrested without incident around 2 a.m. Friday, police said.
Det. Torrey Killam said the Crown extended warrants for Antonacci’s arrest in Quebec to be active in Alberta.
“When he became wanted here, we arrested him to be returned to Quebec,” Killam said, adding police “are all quite relieved” to have Antonacci in custody.
He said arrangements will be made to return Antonacci to Quebec.
Duplex owner Rebekah Caverhill says it’s been a long time coming.
“I’m relieved,” she told the Herald this morning.
But she also said others remain in Antonacci’s former rental suite.
Antonacci had been ordered by the courts to vacate a Calgary rental property that he claimed as a sovereign “embassy.”
Antonacci was charged as Andreas Pirelli under the province’s Fair Trading Act for operating without a prepaid contractor licence connected to a separate Aug. 20 incident.
